Hi - first training session is now organised for 8th March, details on the Recurring Dreams Messenger chat and posted in the website forum shortly.
This will not be in the old hall pictured above, the new hall has a much higher ceiling for spears & wild swings ...
It won't be all combat - this session will be for:
Seeing if old people can still fight
Initial training for new fighters (starting gently, at their own pace)
Kit check - working out what we need, talking about where to get it. Helen will bring kit guides. I will bring paint for shields.
There will be blank membership forms if anyone wants to join the Society - the cost is £18 per adult currently, with lower rates for children.
An EGM to confirm officers, and any other Official Business like maybe signing off on the Constitution if I finish it.
Catching up, deciding what to do next, etc.
No subs for the first occasion, mainly because I'm putting off the finance side of things (group account, etc.)
As this is our first, it won't be an open public recruiting event - please don't invite anyone along who is not currently a member of the group without clearing it with us first (unless they are a spouse/partner who may be interested). Not that I'm averse to new recruits - there may be a rich seam of them in Birstall - I just don't want to deal with that sort of thing while we get ourselves organised.
I intend to go to The Plough (which is a proper pub nearby) for a pint or two afterwards. This is not an invitation - I will go alone if I have to - but I suppose it would be pleasant if I did have company.
There may be more to add to this article - I have been invited to a remote training session with Sandra Orchard on Sunday 16th for Group Leaders, so something might come out of that.
